This 10-hour day tour provides a compact exploration of the Tanjung Puting area by speedboat, combining river travel, a visit to Sekonyer Village, canoeing on the black-water Sungai Buluh, and orangutan observation at Tanjung Harapan Camp. The program is designed as a day excursion from Pangkalan Bun or the airport.
Activities:
The tour begins with a meeting at PKN Airport or a hotel in Pangkalan Bun, followed by a transfer to Kumai and boarding of the speedboat. The route follows the Kumai and Sekonyer Rivers, where you can observe riverfront life and mangrove vegetation.
The first stop is Sekonyer Village, a rural settlement on the border of Tanjung Puting National Park. You can take a short walk through the village to observe local daily life before switching to a small canoe with a local villager to reach Sungai Buluh.
The black-water river excursion takes approximately two hours and includes exploration of the peat swamp forest and surrounding vegetation. After lunch, the journey continues to Tanjung Harapan Camp for orangutan observation from around 3:00-4:30 pm, followed by downstream cruising toward Kumai and transfer back to Pangkalan Bun.
