After a simple breakfast at the hotel, today we will continue our journey in Sumba. We will go to village Prailiang, a traditional village in the east of Sumba, which was built on a rocky hilltop to keep out of sight from coastal slave traders back in the day. The village is built in two rows and the houses have the traditional Sumbanese rooftops. Spend some time to walk around the village and communicate with the locals who still live in the village while enjoying stunning local houses and nice woodcarvings alongside with their beautiful and shy smile. Continuing our trip to Savannah of Wairinding, on the way we will make a short stop in Puru Kambera Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in East Sumba where we can enjoy to swim and sunbath while having a picnic lunch. Afterward, proceed to visit the savannah of Wairinding known by the local as Bukit Warinding where we can enjoy the unlimited greenery of the hills. After that, you will go back to the hotel to rest.

Today we will start our trip to visit the La Popu waterfall. The waterfall La Popu is a natural waterfall that is located in Manupeu Tanah Daru National Park, this waterfall consists of plenty of steep slopes. The slopes rise from the sea reaching a height of 600 meters. Unlike the other waterfall in Sumba, La popu is very famous and often visited by the locals because the location is not hard to reach. Our trip continues to the village Praijing, a traditional village uphill surrounded by lots of greenery. This is one of the few villages where we can actually have a beautiful overview of the entire village and draw an idea of how the village is conducted. Take some time to walk around the village; the elders occupy most of the houses and kids are always around to share their smiles. Don’t forget to share candies!

From Waigali we are heading to Kerewei Beach, on the way we can see numerous rice fields, palm plantations, sloping hills, river valleys, and sweeping bays. Arriving in Kerewai Beach, we can enjoy, have a moment to relax while enjoying a fresh coconut and regain enough energy for the following activities. Waking up with the expectation that you are going to live an adventure today. After breakfast, we will head to the National park of Manupeu, naturally set for a great place to hike and enjoy nature. The environment is constantly changing because of the climate that changes every day. A short walk in this national park is definitely one of the greatest adventures Sumba can offer. At the end of the trek, we will be greeted by the splash coming from a waterfall of Matanyangu, a 75 meters high waterfall which is emitting its water out of a cave. During the rainy season, its water also comes from the river apart from the cave on top of it with a height reaching approximately 130 meters from the base of the waterfall. Expect to have a good walk around 2-3 hours back and forth.

Day 8
After breakfast, we will visit the traditional village Ratenggaro in Kodi area. Here we will see the traditional high rooftops houses (actually the highest rooftops in whole Sumba) made all by hand and traditionally. This village is the only one of a few traditional villages left in the area, and while the village is just a compound of some houses, each house can accommodate up to 50 family members. On the harvesting season, however, most of the villagers will stay in their field to work and only leave the elders and child in the village. From Ratenggarro we will head to Weekuri Lake, a crystal clear lake that makes it a great place to swim and to relax. Spend some time in the lake for taking a short (or long) dip. We are not going back to Waikabubak but we are going to Waitabula which is located a little north from Waikabubak and there we will conclude the day and you can spend the night in the hotel.
